NEWSLETTER – Start-up of Rig Partner P&A Services AS

Rig Partner Group is pleased to announce the establishment of our new company Rig Partner P&A Services AS, which will formally enter into force following a resolution at the general meeting on 28.11.2025. The former Green Partner AS has now been given a new name and a new mandate as a central part of the Rig Partner Group’s focus on Plug & Abandonment (P&A).
This marks an important strategic step for the Rig Partner Group, and strengthens our position within decommissioning, well closure and related specialist services.
A targeted investment in P&A
The new entity will have a clear focus on delivering:
- Plug & Abandonment projects
- Engineering and technical support
- Project management and planning
- Cost and risk assessments
- Multidisciplinary services in collaboration with Rig Partner Decom and Rig Partner Project
This strengthens the group’s overall delivery capacity and positions us as a leading player within the entire life cycle of offshore rigs and wells.
Strengthened by key personnel
In connection with the restructuring, Rig Partner P&A Services AS has further strengthened the organization with key personnel who will be central to the development, management and execution of P&A operations. These resources provide expertise in:
- well engineering disciplines
- project management
- regulations and compliance
- implementation of P&A methodology
- operational experience from offshore well operations
Espen Johansen has been hired to lead our development of the company. Espen has 35 years of experience from rig companies and operating companies and now comes from ConocoPhillips where for the past 13 years he has held positions as drilling supervisor and drilling superintendent for exploration drilling (incl. HPHT), production drilling, completion and P&A operations.
The combined experience of the new team puts Rig Partner P&A Services AS in a strong position from day one, says Espen Johansen, Manager P&A Services. I am really looking forward to the role as Manager in our new P&A company. We are entering a period where an ever-increasing number of wells will be plugged both nationally and globally, often through campaign-based operations and with a clear trend towards outsourcing the P&A execution. This can provide us with exciting opportunities to establish ourselves as a reliable partner in the market. Our goal is to deliver flexibility and high quality – with a focus on safe, cost-effective and predictable execution for the Operator companies.
